Introduction: Beautiful Box With Butterflies
You will need:
1) A piece of plywood 40x50
2) Laser cutter
4) Basic knowledge of any vector and raster graphic software
5) Internet connection
Step 1: Raw Box
On the http://www.makercase.com/ you will be able to design very fast the main parts of the box. Firstly, select convenient units for measuring. Enter dimensions of the desired item. Then, choose if given dimensions are measured from outside of the box (this means that dimensions will include the thickness of the material) or dimensions measured from inside walls of the box. Also, you must specify the thickness of the material. Then, pick the type of joints, you can choose one from 3 types of joints proposed there. For more customization settings you can double-click the face on which you want to cut holes, draw something or write a text. Lastly, download auto generated .svg file.
Step 2: Design
Chose from internet or draw your own picture in any graphics software. Save or convert it into vectorial graphics. Merge your image with auto generated box .svg file and edit the walls of the box.
Step 3: Cutting
Cut designed parts with laser cutter.
Step 4: Assemble
Grind parts and assemble them.
