My nan loves making cards and her passion for the craft has started to rub of on me! I always love receiving cards from her for my birthday so I thought I'd try my hand at making one too.
This is an impressive looking 3-D card that's relatively simple to make.

Step 1: Equipment

You will need:

Scissors
A pencil
A ruler
Different coloured pieces of card
Double sided tape
Pieces of foam or thick pieces of cardboard
A ready-made plain card

Step 2: The Sand

Measure the length and width of your ready-made card. Decide how high up the card you want the 'sand' to come. Measure and draw out the sand on your coloured card. Remember: don't have all the colours at the same height, stager them. Cut out the shapes. To test how they look, place them one on top of the other, with the tallest at the back.

Step 3: The Camel

Trace or draw a camel onto a piece of black card. Carefully cut it out. Stick it onto one of the coloured pieces of paper, to do this I used double sided tape. Be sure to hide the tape under the card of the sand in front.

Step 4: 3-D

To add and extra touch to the card, I decided to make it 3-D. To do this, I used 2 foam squares (stuck together with double sided tape). Put the foam squares on the back of each piece of sand. Before you stick them down, remember to make sure they're in the right place by just putting them on to of each other. Once you're confident with the placing, use glue or double sided tape to stick them to the card as show. Then, use more tape to stick them to the other pieces of 'sand'.

Step 5: The Assembly

Finally, cut out a piece of dark coloured card/paper the same size as the front of the ready-made card. Stick it down. Stick on your 3-D creation. Cut out a star from a piece of silver card and stick it onto the background. You could also use a stamp and ink for the star.
To add further embellishment, use a stamp and ink to print temples or houses in the back ground, or more stars in the sky.
