Introduction: Cardboard Automata

This automata is very simple and acts more as a template to be built on rather than a complete automata. This can be useful for anyone that wants to make an automata that spins vertically. By turning the handle, this automata changes the turning motion from being horizontal to vertical via the wheels inside.

Supplies

- Cardboard

- Cardboard box

- Glue

- Dowels

- Scissors or a knife

Step 1: Create Wheels

Cut out 2 cardboard circles each being about 4 inches in diameter using scissors or a knife.

Step 2: Add Axles to the Wheels

Puncture the wheels in the center and add dowels to both of them. Glue the dowels to the wheel to keep them in place.

Step 3: Add Platform to Box

Glue a small cardboard platform into the side of the box. This support one of the axles.

Step 4: Add Wheels to Box

Puncture a hole in the side of the cardboard box (slightly above the platform) and puncture a hole in the center of the top of the box. Then add each axle into both of these holes.

Step 5: Add a Handle

Glue a small piece of cardboard to the end of the horizontal dowel. This will act as a handle.
