Introduction: Carrot Basket Cake

This cake is perfect for basket lovers. So, if you are a huge fan of this amazing sport or if you know anyone who is, this could be the perfect detail for his or her birthday. (That was what inspired me.) I made the carrot cake for the base because its my favorite one and it gives it a nice orange tone, but you could use another recipe to make the cake. This decoration it´s very easy to make so...let´s get into it!

Step 1: Here Are the Ingredients and the Tools We Will Need

For the cake:

  • 4 eggs.
  • 250 gr of Sugar.
  • 150 ml of olive oil.
  • 350 gr of Flour.
  • Skin of an orange.
  • 3 carrots.
  • A bit of butter.
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate.
  • A pinch of salt

For the frosting and decoration:

  • 1 tablespoon of coffee.
  • 300 ml of liquid cream.
  • 400 gr of cream cheese.
  • 100 gr of icing sugar.
  • 50 gr of butter
  • Chocolate chips.

Tools:

  • A circular baking dish.
  • A grater
  • A blender. (Optional.)
  • An oven.

Step 2: Preheat the Oven and Spread That Butter!

Before we start make sure you preheat the oven. (180º)

With your hands spread the butter all over the baking dish and a little bit of flour. This will prevent the cake for stiking.

Step 3: Mix the Eggs With the Sugar.

Mix the eggs with the sugar with the blender, make sure its homogeneusly blended.

Step 4: Add the Rest of the Base Ingredients.

Add the flour, the oil, the yeast, the salt and the sodium bicarbonate and mix it well.

Step 5: Grate and Pour!

Grate all the carrots and the skin or an orange. Mix it with the other ingredients and pour it on the baking dish.

Put it in the oven. (180º-30-35 mins)

Step 6: Lets Make the Filling

In the main time we can prepare the frosting. For that just put toguether the cream, the cheese, the butter, the coffee and the icyng sugar, then mix it all with the blender untill it become smooth.

Step 7: Prepare the Cake.

When the baking its ready, take it out from the oven and let it set for about 20 minutes. You may discover that your cake looks like a vulcano...don´t worry becouse we are going to cut the surface.

Then cut the cake in two slices very carefully and add the filling between them. (Save a bit for decorating.)

Step 8: Into the Fun Part! Let´s Decorate!

Cut the chocolate chips. Fill a syringe or a pastry bag with the frosting and draw the basket ball, for it just make a circle, then a curve line on the middle and the ones crossing it. Then just add the chocolate chips above and...it is done!
I hope you like it!
