Introduction: Creating a Harry Potter Cover Inspired by an Original Cover

Using Photoshop you will create Harry Potter cover or similar using the following steps.

Step 1: Step 1: Add a Character Onto Photoshop Using the Lasso Tool

After importing a character you want to use into Photoshop Use the magnetic lasso tool and Trace out your character from its background

Step 2: Step 2: Add a Vector Mask

When your character is fully outlined by the magnetic lasso tool click on layer mask to remove your character from its background. When your character is removed from the background place your character as needed onto the portrait of Photoshop. Repeat the process of step 1-2 until all characters are onto your portrait.

Step 3: Step 3: Adding a Castle

After finding and placing a castle onto your portrait, use the magnetic lasso tool from steps 1-2 until the castle is fully outlined

Step 4: Step 4: Placing the Castle Using Layers

After fully outlining the castle with the magnetic lasso tool mask the castle using the steps from 1-2. When your castle is fully masked, use the layers tool and move the castle behind all your characters.

Step 5: Step 5: Changing Colors of Castle

When your castle is placed as needed change colors and look of the castle using the adjustments tool. Adjust this using Brightness/Contrast ,Vibrance,Color balance,Hue/Saturation.

Step 6: Step 6: Add a Sky to Your Image

After finding a sky and placing the image onto your portrait use the magnetic lasso tool and mask the layer.

Step 7: Step 7: Scaling the Sky

Scale the sky by clicking edit-transform-scale. Until the sky is perfectly aligned with everything. Then arrange the image and place it behind all your other images.

Step 8: Step 8: Adjust the Brightness and Color of Your Sky

Change the colors of the sky using step 5. Adjust its brightness and change its color to a darkish color like purple.

Step 9: Step 9: Make Your Characters Have Flames Around Them

After finding an image of fire and placing it onto your portrait. Scale the fire using until its is perfectly layered over the characters. Use the lasso tool and outline parts of the fire that only cover your character. When part of the fire is lassoed right click the outline and click select and mask.

Step 10: Step 10: Adjusting the Fire

After your fire is masked adjust the transparency of the fire until your characters can clearly be seen but can also see the fire. leave the fire not covering them alone.

Step 11: Step 11: Add a Villain/voldemort in the Sky of Your Image

After finding a villain and placing it into your portrait. Use the magnetic lasso tool and outline the villain. Only lasso shoulder and up on the villain. Then mask the villain. once the villain is by itself scale and move the villain until it covers apart of the sky. then change the opacity of the villain so that some of it is see through. Then layer it until its layered behind the fire and your other characters.
