Introduction: Cut an Iron-on Sticker for Your T-shirt / Stickers Op Een T-shirt Strijken

De Roland GX24 vinylsnijder heeft een scherp mes waarmee je stickers en papier tot 0.5 mm kan snijden. Je kan deze machine gebruiken om stickers mee te maken. Om met de machine te kunnen snijden heb je een vectorbestand nodig. Deze handleiding legt stap-voor-stap uit hoe je de machine kan aansturen met een vectorbestand.

The Roland GX24 vinyl cutter has a sharp knife, to cut through stickers and paper up to 0.5 mm thickness. You can use this machine to make stickers. To cut a shape you will need a vector file. This tutorial shows how to operate the machine, using a vector file.

Step 1: Place a Vector File in a Folder / Plaats Een Vectorbestand

Gebruik een vectortekening, zoals bijvoorbeeld een .ai bestand (Illustrator).

Use a vector drawing, for example an .ai file. (Illustrator).

Step 2: Open Your File / Open Het Bestand

Kies File > Open en haal het bestand uit je map.
Selecteer je figuur met het zwarte pijltje. Klopt de maat? In de bovenbalk bij ‘W’ en ‘H’ zie je de afmetingen van je figuur.

Choose File > Open and select the file from your folder.
Select your drawing using the black arrow. Is the size correct? In the toolbar at 'W' and 'H' you can check the dimensions of your drawing.

Step 3: Color Your Drawing / Kleur Je Bestand

Selecteer je figuur met het zwarte pijltje, maak de ‘fill’ zwart en zet de ‘stroke’ uit. De machine zal dan om de zwarte vormen heen snijden.

Select the image with the black arrow. Make the 'fill' black and turn off the 'stroke'. The machine will now cut around the black shapes.

Step 4: Position the Material in the Vinyl Cutter / Positioneren Van Het Materiaal

Duw de grote hendel links aan de achterkant van de machine omlaag en schuif je materiaal (een sticker vel) van achter naar voren door de opening.

Now push the large handle on the left at the back of the machine down. Slide your material (sticker sheet) from the back to the front through the opening.

Step 5: Position the Wheels / Positioneren Van De Wielen

Plaats op beide uiteinden van je materiaal een rolletje. Aan de achterkant kan je de rolletjes met de hand verschuiven. Let op, de rolletjes moeten altijd onder een wit vlakje staan.

Place a little wheel on each side of your material. You can move the wheels manually via the back of the machine. The wheels always need to be positioned below the white areas.

Step 6: Pull the Handle / Hendel Omhoog Trekken

Haal de hendel naar omhoog om het materiaal vast te zetten. Op het paneel van de vinylsnijder zie je ‘select sheet’ en ‘roll’; druk op 'enter'.

Pull the handle to fixate the material. At the interface of the vinyl cutter you see 'select sheet' and 'roll'; push enter.

Step 7: Check the Settings / Instellingen

Druk in het paneel op ‘menu’. Voor stickers en papier is snelheid ('speed') 20 cm/s en snijkracht ('force') 180 is een goede setting. Voor de opstrijkstickers gebruik je snijkracht 220. Druk op de knop ‘test’ en kijk of het mes door het materiaal heen snijdt.

Press 'menu' at the interface. For stickers and paper the best settings are 20cm/s and 180 gf. For the iron-on material the force needs to be higher, for example 220. Press 'test' and verify if the knife cuts through the material.

Step 8: Cut the Material / Materiaal Snijden

Kies File > Print in Illustrator om de plotter te starten. Haal de hendel weer omhoog om het werk uit de machine te halen. Nu kan je je sticker losknippen en opplakken.

Select File > Print in Illustrator to start the plotter. Once it is finished, pull the bar up to release the material and take your sticker out.

Afhankelijk van het materiaal kan je de kracht instellen waarmee het mesje drukt, en de snelheid waarmee het mes beweegt. Voor stug materiaal heb je bijvoorbeeld een hogere drukkracht en een lagere snelheid nodig. De kracht kan je aanpassen met de knop ‘force’ en de pijltjestoetsen op het paneel van de vinylsnijder. De snelheid verander je zo: druk 2x op ‘menu’ (dan staat er ‘unsetup’); dan pijl omlaag (‘condition’); pijl rechts (‘force’); pijltje omlaag (‘speed’); pijl rechts; pijlen omhoog en omlaag om speed aan te passen; enter om wijzigingen op te slaan.

Doe altijd even een test voordat je je hele file print.

Dependent of the material you have to adjust the machine settings. You can adjust the force and speed of the knife. For rigid materials you need more pressure (force) and a lower speed. Press the 'force' button and the arrow keys to adjust the pressure. Adjusting the speed works like this: press 'menu' twice, until you see 'unstop'. Then press the arrow key down, it will say 'condition'; now press the right arrow ('force'), the down arrow ('speed'); right arrow; now use the up and down arrows to adjust the speed setting. Press enter to save the changed settings.

Always run a test before printing your file.
