Introduction: DIY Book Box

Hi ya'll! Today I will be showing you how to make a DIY book box. Now this tutorial is quite similar to another one published by my brother Miles because we did the project together and both decided to publish them. I hope you like this DIY tutorial! (I decided to use another book during the tutorial, so don't get confused. :))

Step 1: Materials

hardcover book

Elmer's glue or Modge Podge

sponge brush or paint brush

a heavy duty utility knife

something to pour your glue into

ruler

Step 2: The Glue Stage

Step one, pour the glue or Modge Podge into a paint pallet or other surface. Then, take your sponge/paint brush, and slather all 3 sides with glue, so when it dries, the pages of the book stay hardened, and in place.

Step 3: Flattening the Book

Step two, take your glue slathered book, and place two sticky notes on either side of the front cover. Then, take the book and place it under a good amount of heavy or large books, to maintain pressure. Keep the book flattened for about an hour, and take it out when the glue feels dry on every side.

Step 4: Cutting Out the Pages

Step three, now trace a square or rectangle with a ruler, around the inside front page of the book. make sure to leave enough room for a boarder, or the book box will be well, an un-book box. then carefully start cutting away at the lines that you drew so that when you pull the pages out, they will be in the shape of the box that you traced. make sure to keep the borders well trimmed, or there will start to be a build up of little pieces of paper, on the corners.

Step 5: Flattening Once More..

After you have cut your desired amount of pages within the book, slather once again the inside sides of the book, and the outsides again, if you want the book to be exceptionally secure and strong. Leave this to be flattened overnight, and take it out in the morning, where it will be fully dried and strong.

Step 6: Finished!

And there you have it!! your finished book box! I hoped that you liked this tutorial, and comment below! (As you can see my corners got a little messy! be sure to cleanly cut the corners of the book, so that this won't happen!)
