Introduction: DIY LED Eyeball
Spooky eyeball to light up your Halloween. This simple to make LED eyeball will be fun Halloween decoration.
Step 1: Materials
The material needed:
- 2.8 in Foam Ball
- SumDirect LED Mini Lights
- Blue Tissue Paper
- Black Construction Paper
- Red Yarn
- Glue Gun
- Knife
- Scissors
- Ice Cream Scoop
- Pencil
Step 2: Warm Up the Glue Gun
Plug the glue gun in to allow it time to warm up.
Step 3: Cut Foam Ball in Half
Use the knife to cut the ball in half
(WARNING: Be careful knife is sharp and could cut yourself.)
Step 4: Hollow Out the Halves of the Ball
Use the ice cream scoop to hollow out the halves of the ball.
(Note: The thinner you hollow out the halves the brighter the ball will shine.)
Step 5: Glue the Two Halves Together
Use the glue gun to glue the two halves of the ball back together.
(WARNING: Glue from glue gun is hot)
Step 6: Make a Hole for LED Light
Use the pencil to poke a hole into the ball for your LED light.
Step 7: Insert LED Light in the Hole and Glue Into Place
Insert the LED Light half way in the hole. Use the glue gun to glue the light into place.
(Note: The light of the LED should be facing the inside of the ball)
Step 8: Cut a Circle From the Tissue Paper
Cut two 2 in. circle out of the tissue paper
Step 9: Cut a Circle From the Construction Paper
Cut a nickel sized circle from the construction paper.
Step 10: Glue the Tissue Paper to the Ball
Glue the overlapping tissue papers to the ball, opposite of the LED light.
Step 11: Glue the Construction Paper to the Ball
Glue the circle cut from the construction paper to the center of the circle of the tissue paper.
Step 12: Cut Yarn
Cut the red yarn to your desired lengths.
The red yarn represents the veins and nerves sticking out of the back of the eye.
Step 13: Tie Yarn to the LED Light
Run the yarn through the ring on the LED light till the yarn has even lengths on each side of the loop. Tie the yarn around the loop.
Step 14: Tie the Second Strand of Yarn
Create a loop with the yarn and run a second piece of yarn through that loop till the lengths are even then close the loop. Trim the the tips of the yarn to the length you desire.
Step 15: Completion
You have successfully completed the DIY LED Eyeball.
