Step 1:

Find a mask pattern online that you like and print it out. (Or draw your own) Make sure that the print-out is the exact size that you want the mask to be.

Step 2:

Tape the pattern down onto the table, and then tape a piece of waxed or parchment paper over it. Coat the wax/parchment paper with a thin layer of lotion. (This is very important because otherwise the hot glue will get stuck to the paper.)

Step 3:

Trace over the pattern with hot glue. Make sure to let the glue dry completely before peeling it off of the paper.

Step 4:

Use scissors to cut off the hot glue strings and trim the uneven edges. You can also add more hot glue where necessary to make the mask look more uniform; just make sure that you do it on top of the lotioned part of the paper so that the glue doesn't stick.

Step 5:

Lay the mask on a regular sheet of paper and paint the entire thing with the desired paint color. You will most likely need more than one coat. (I did three.) Make sure that the paint dries in between each coat of paint. While the third coat of paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter all over the mask and then wait for it to dry.

Step 6:

Once the paint is dry, flip the mask over and use the fabric glue to glue the lace to the back of the mask. (I used two layers of lace.) Allow the glue to dry.

Step 7:

Once the glue is dry, cut around the outside of the mask and cut out the eye holes. Also make sure to cut a slit in the lace on either side of the mask so that there is a place to attach the ribbon.

Step 8:

Cut two pieces of ribbon to the desired length, and put them through the slits on the sides of the mask. Stitch them in place.

Step 9:

(Optional) Add any other embellishments you would like on the mask. (Rhinestones, sequins, etc.)

Step 10: All Done!
