Introduction: DIY Pocahontus Necklace

I'm a die hard Disney fan and I've always been a collector of movie memorabilia. I've never been able to find a Pocahontas necklace that I really liked. When my sister brought up the idea of being Pocahontas for Halloween, I decided I'd need to try my hand at the necklace.
Step 1: Materials
For this neck;ace, you'll need:
White and teal acrylic paint
A paintbrush
2-3 cocktail straws
Necklace cord & clasp
White polymer clay
Scissors
Hard work surface
Warm hands
I bought all these items at Michael's (except for the straws which I got at Target)
This necklace will take about an hour to make, including backing and drying time, and cost about $10.00 in materials.

Step 2: Make the Pieces of the Necklace
I can't really give specifics as there's no real technique for this. But I've included as many pictures as I can to help you recreate this necklace. Please leave any questions in the comments and I will respond.
TIPS
To make pieces really symmetrical, I made one piece, then flipped it upside down over another piece and cut the edges with my scissors. (first photo)
To really smooth out creases, get a finger wet and rub it repeatedly over any discrepancies. This really helps smooth everything out.
To make the beads, flatten out some clay, fold it over a straw, pinch the edges together, and mold it into the shape you want. After you have molded the pieces, veeeeery carefully pull the straw out, making sure that you don't pinch the hole you created with the straw. You can check that the hole is still clear by passing the straw through it a few times.
For the central piece, create a tear drop shape THEN attach it to the rectangle piece of the middle bead.

Step 3: Bake Then Paint With All the Colors of the Wind
I baked my beads in a toaster oven and just the baking took about 45 minutes. After that was finally done, I got to painting!
To make the skinny bead color, I mixed a little bit of white paint with the teal paint until I got the color right.

Step 4: ENJOY!
After the paint dries, string them onto the cord and tie the clasp onto the ends.
Now you can paddle along in your canoe asking raccoons and willow trees what's around the river bend.
