DIY Tricky Puzzle Without Breaking the Bank

We all love challenges because it offers us a chance to show our skills.
How about giving a puzzle challenge to your friends that will just blow their mind. And the best part is you can make it all by yourself. It will be very difficult to solve but at the same time it will be very easy to make.
It is basically a puzzle in which there will be a thread locked inside the cube. Our main task is to free it out. We will not make a 3D printed puzzle because most of you will find it difficult to arrange a 3D printer. And now you might be thinking that it will cost me a lot but let me tell you that it will just cost you 2-3 dollars.
Below I will be telling you all the steps in detail on how to make this amazing puzzle. So get yourself ready for an amazing DIY.

Step 1: MATERIALS REQUIRED

So here is a list of simple things that you will require while making this puzzle.
Metal Wire (50 cm approx.)
Aluminium Foil
Cord/ Thick Thread (25 cm)
Tape
Scissors

Step 2: CUTTING METAL WIRE

So the first step is to cut the wire according to the size that we require. Our aim is to make a cube of side 4 cm out of metal wire. For this follow the steps given below:
Cut two pieces of wire of length 16 cm. Then, cut four pieces of wire of length 4 cm using scissors (both the lengths are shown in the image above). You can also cut using pliers as per your convenience.

Step 3: ASSEMBLING THE CUBE

Take one 16 cm wire and fold it at every 4 cm so as to make a square of side 4 cm. But don't close it by putting tape on the open corners. I will tell you the reason to do so afterwards. Do the same with other 16 cm wire. Now, we have 2 squares.
Take two 4 cm wires and place it on the opposite corners of one square as shown in the image above. Bind it with tape. You can also use a glue gun but since we are not using expensive products and our aim is to make it within 2-3 dollars we will do it with tape.
Now take the two squares with wires joined at their cornerstone place them together to form a cube as shown in the image above and fasten it with tapes.
Now as you know and also might be facing that normal tape is not enough to hold the wires. For this we have a trick. Take a piece of aluminium foil and tighten the corners with it so that the wires get bound together tightly and do not get out.

Step 4: DECORATING THE PUZZLE

The last step is to decorate the cube and add the thread which we have to free out.
The joints at which we have bonded the aluminium foil, add some more aluminium foil so as to make it as a ball.
Do the same at all the corners. Also, wrap the metal wire with a small piece of aluminium foil as shown in the image above.
We have got a beautiful cube. But your question might be that what kind of puzzle is it ? So here comes my answer.
Take a thread and pass it from inside the cube and tie it. Now, we have got a thread locked inside a cube.

Step 5: SOLUTION

Now we have made our puzzle. Do you remember the open ends of the two squares ? If yes, then here is its use. Take the open end and place the wire in a way that it is not visible that the wire is not stuck in the cube and that it is open.
How to solve the cube:

While giving the challenge to your friends do not tell them that two ends of the cube are open and let them have a hard time figuring out the solution.
When they will find that the two ends are open then also it is a difficult task to take the thread out of it.
