Introduction: DIY Wire Cat Ears

About: I love making things on a creative budget!

Who needs to spend a lot of money at accessory or clothing stores? Usually all of us. But you WON'T have to spend money on buying cat ears from them! Instead you can do this project quickly and won't cost more than a few dollars. You should be able to find all these items around the house or at most at your local dollar store.

This is just the skeleton and you can design your cat ears anyway you want to when you're finished!
Make sure to watch the video first and then begin your journey!

For supplies you will need:

  1. A thin headband
  2. wire (if you want to get a color, go ahead.. make sure it's not too thick or it might be difficult to twist)
  3. Pliers (needle nose pliers work the best here!

LET'S GET STARTED!

Step 1: Step 1: Cut a Long Length of Wire and Twist It on Itself X2

For this measurement I used about 2 feet of wire for the initial cut of wire. Cut one the same length as this one. Take one of the wire's ends and find the middle. Once finding the middle, twist until the wire is thicker on itself. Repeat this on the other wire; you should have two twisted wires now.

Step 2: Step 2: Start Wrapping the Wire Around Your Headband

Find the middle of your twisted wires and twist it around the headband where you want to start your cat ear. I started from the top. Begin twisting the wire around itself again.

Step 3: Step 3: Begin Shaping Your Cat Ear

After twisting a generous amount of wire AGAIN, now start to bend it into a triangle to make it seem pointy. Find the right shape you want for your cat ear to become. If it's larger it might turn into a fox.

Step 4: Step 4: Close Your Cat Ear

Once satisfied with the ear shape, take the leftover wire and wrap it around the base of the headband where the cat ear ends. Wrap it once around the headband and then once again around the cat ear. Repeat a few times, and if you have a small excess of wire left you can either cut it off or wrap it again.

Step 5: Step 5: Repeat Steps 2-4 for the Second Cat Ear

Make sure the second cat ear is at an equal distance to your other finished ear. Then repeat steps 2-4 for the second ear! AND THEN YOU'RE DONE! ENJOY YOUR NEW CAT EARS!!!

Step 6: Step 6: WEAR THEM BECAUSE YOU'RE DONE!

Wear them out or start embellishing them and then WEAR THEM OUT!!! <3 <3 I hope to see people wearing one of a kind cat ears in the future!
