Introduction: DIY Hand Grip

Strong hands make powerful exercise possible.

If you are lifting heavy weights its necessary that your hands, wrists and forearms can take the weight. Wrist wraps are often used to enlarge the grip on bars and handles. The grip force is rarely trained separately. Nevertheless it is important to do so, because strong hands make heavy work possible.

No more soft handshakes.

This hand grip can even improve your social and professional life, because a firm handshake gives a confident, strong impression with your friends and colleagues.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials needed:

  • Wooden stick 24 mm thick
  • Steel shaft 6 mm thick

Tools needed

  • Vise
  • Steel tube 25 mm thick
  • Drill
  • Drill bit 6 mm
  • Hacksaw
  • Wood wax

Step 2: Make a Curl

Measure 9 cm on the shaft .This is the point where the curl starts. Lock the steel shaft within the vise right-angled with the tube. Turn the steel shaft two and a half times round the tube to create a nice curl. This curl will act as a spring. Measure 9 cm from the end of the curl and cutthe rest of with a hacksaw.

Step 3: Saw, Drill and Sand

Saw two pieces of the wooden stick each 10 cm long.

Drill a 5 cm hole in the top of each piece. Sand the pieces.

Step 4: Wax and Mount

Wax the pieces with wood wax.

Insert the steel end pieces in the wooden pieces.

Note: it’s a tightfit so I didn't use glue to hold them together.

Step 5: Working Out

Start working-out.

3 sets of 30 reps a day will give you a firm grip in no time.
