Introduction: Display Your Record Albums in Picture Frames

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

You may remember collecting vintage vinyl records throughout the years. But, instead of having them collect dust, try collecting those albums and putting them in picture frames! It's super easy to do and you can do this DIY idea for your bedroom and make it like you've just started your own musical art gallery!

This is a simplification of bonzo363's process as well as that of joeflips7 shelving idea. Click on either one of those links for proof!

Step 1: Easy Materials List

This project is very easy! All you need are some of your old vinyl records and 12 x 12 inch picture frames, like the Mulitpurpose Record Frame. You can find this kind of frame at Joann's.

Step 2: Prepare Your Frames

This is a very easy process with working with these record frames. Just take the clips off and peel off any protective film as indicated.

Step 3: Add Your Record

Now, just slip in your favorite record album (I am using Duran Duran: Seven and the Ragged Tiger as an example) and place the shield and clips back on. Make sure that when you put the clips back on that the hook is on top, instead of on the sides or bottom of the frame.

Step 4: Hang 'Em Up

Now, they're ready for display; just hang them up! I don't have anything to hang up at this stage, but you can probably tell how easy it is for you to preserve and hang up your old vintage records! Here are just some examples of record albums put into the frames!

These are simply displayed for your viewing pleasure, not preserved. Nothing wrong with that but research if you want to preserve something signed or valuable. To preserve these you would need to use archival quality materials around and beneath the record, spacers or archival matting to keep the records off of the glazing and UV treated glazing to prevent damage from light.

I'm obviously a smite older as my choice of vintage covers would differ greatly, (Morrison Hotel, Get Yer Ya Ya's Out!) but I love the idea and given permission by ultimate authority hope to emulate. Thanks for the idea and source.
