Introduction: Double Glazed Apple Fritters (The Regular Show)

About: Hi I'm Elise and I love to cook and share my creations with my friends and family. I hope you like the recipes I put up! Please check out our cooking channel Elise's Eats on YouTube :D Instagram-https://www.i…

These are deliciously double glazed apple fritters inspired from the regular show. The soft warm dough with slightly crispy apple inside go perfectly with the sweet sticky glaze. To me they taste like a delicious apple pie like donut.

These are best served straight away and can keep in an airtight container for a couple days (however I have never been able to resist not eating these).

I hope that my recipe may make your dreams of the Regular Show to come true. This version is safe for human consumption and does not send you into another energy plane, Be careful not to add too much glaze otherwise you may turn out like Pops. If you do make sure you have a whole wheat donut.

Step 1: Ingredients

For the Fritters:

- 2 Cups plain flour

- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/3 Cup caster sugar

- 3/4cup whole milk (+1 Tablespoon)

- 2 Extra-large eggs (room temp)

- 1 tseaspoon cinnamon

- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

- 3 1/4 cup small diced apple

- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste/ extract

- 40g melted unsalted butter

- Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze:

- 3 Cups icing sugar

- 1/2 cup cold milk (for a runny glaze, use less for a thicker glaze)

- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean/ extract

- pinch sal

Step 2: Equipment

- Mixing bowls

- 1/4 Cup measurement

- Slotted spoon

- Wire cooling rack

- Sauce pan or deep fryer

- Spoons and forks

- Whisk

Step 3: Make the Dry and Wet Mixes

In a large mixing bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, spices and salt and whisk everything together and put it aside.

Then in a smaller bowl add the milk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla bean paste and mix it together.

Step 4: Finish the Mixture

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix with the whisk until all combined and there is no dry lumps. Add the diced apple to the mixture (the apple can be cut to any size but you want it to be relatively small so they cook when they are deep fried.).

Step 5: Fry the Fritters

In a large pot heat oil to about 170 degrees Celcius or until you place a wooden skewer in the oil and it bubbles. Alternatively you can also place a small dollop of mixture in the oil and see if it bubbles.

With the 1/4 cup measurement place 1-2 fritters in the oil and cook for 3-4 minutes each side or until golden brown and cooked through. (You can always fry them and place them in the overn if they need to cook more on the inside).

Once the fritters are cooked place them on a wire cooling rack over some paper towel so they can dry and cool.

Step 6: Glaze the Fritters

In a mixing bowl mix the icing sugar, milk, salt and vanilla bean together until it is smooth and free of lumps.

Stir the glaze and the place the fritters in the glaze and full coat them all over. Place the fritter back on the wire rack and allow it to dry. Then finally drizzle another layer of glaze over the fritters and allow it to dry.

Step 7: Serve

Serve the fritters fresh when made for maximum deliciousness.

*Info from the show*

Be wary if you fully double glaze these fritters it may not be safe for human consumption! the double glazed fritters may take you into another energy field where you may not return unless you are carrying your trusty whole wheat donut. Make these with caution!!!
