Introduction: Draft 2

Two part folding bag.

Supplies

  • plastic bags
  • iron
  • thread / embroidery thread
  • needle
  • ruler
  • pen
  • paper
  • scissors
  • button
  • baking/grease proof paper

Step 1: Plastic Organisation

Sort and cut out all of your available plastic. You will need plastic bags or packaging (LDPE,4). If you want to be able to create your own patterns then cut up the plastic into colours so that its easier to layer.

Step 2: Pattern/ Organisation

Lay out your plastic piece onto greaseproof paper aim to create a layer around 2/3 plastic bags thick across the whole piece. Depending on how you layer this there will be a creation of different patterns.

Step 3: Iron

Iron the plastic till its bonded together and leave to cool before removing from the grease proof paper.

Step 4: Cut

Cut out all you needed pieces.

Step 5: Label and Sew

Draw evenly spaced dots 5mm from the edge and 5mm apart. Use this as a guide to sew the two pieces together. First sew on the three thin strips (21 x 4 cm) round the main pocket (21 x 17 cm). Then once both pockets are done sew the pockets onto the long body piece (21 x 40cm).

Step 6: Attaching Thread for Button

On the centre of one of the sides roughly 2cm down. Make sure the loop is long enough to allow space for it to be shortened.

Step 7: Sew on Button

On the opposite side sew on a button 2cm from the top in the centre. Loop round the previously made thread and shorten.
