Simple tutorial on how to get rid of fruits flies in your house.
Step 1: Step 1: Materials
Materials:
- Apple Cider
- A Bowl
- Piece of Rotten fruit
- Saran Wrap
- Toothpick
Step 2: Step 2: Add Cider
Add enough Cider so the smell really attract the fruit flies
Step 3: Step 3: Add Rotten Fruit
I did not have a rotten fruit around so just use a slice of apple
A piece ripped Banana would do
Step 4: Step 4: Cover With Saran Wrap
Cover with Saran Wrap and poke holes with Toothpick
Hopefully the fruit flies will get in but unable to escape
Eventually fall into the Cider and drown
Step 5: Step 5: Sit Back and Wait

Soon they get inside the bowl.

The prevention suggestions here are most appropriate, but they don't rid you of the present problem. Dribble a little dish soap (any kind) in your container before adding the apple vinegar. Fruit flies can land on the surface of liquid, but the soap breaks the adhesion characteristics of the liquid causing the flies to drown.

From Dick VM in Columbus, Ohio. To get rid of fruit flies pour some bleach in all of your drains. This includes sink, shower, bathtub, floor drains. This is where fruit flies breed and lay their eggs. After you use the drain pour some more bleach in it. Any brand of bleach will work so buy the cheap stuff. It only takes a few days. This trap will work but you want to eliminate the problem.

If you ask an exterminator what it the most difficult pest to get rid of, it is the fruit fly. The main factor in fruit fly control is sanitation. If you remove their breeding sites, you will remove the problem. Trapping alone won't work.

Trapping will work, Casey, and yes, prevention works, too. Real people in real homes who eat real food will eventually discover real fruit flies have discovered it.
RiceYummy: GOOD INFORMATION that I'll definitely keep in mind next time the fruit flies want my produce more than me! lol. ((((((((((( RiceYummy ))))))))))))
