HI GUYS, in the haloween rush I've decided to make really cheap and quick Game of Thrones tutorial so..... Here it is!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials!

So, for this project you will need:

  • A piece of thick cardboard
  • Aluminum tape
  • Superglue
  • Black Acrylic paint
  • A round "thing" in the size of your coin (I've used a circular pencil sharpener)
  • A Printer
  • White Papers
  • Glue gun and glue sticks (optional)
  • .............................................................

For the coin's display case:

  • Black Duct Tape
  • Black cords
  • A transparent "lid" (I used the transparent clock face of my previous alarm clock)
  • Stiff cardboard
  • Wire
  • Glue gun and glue sticks

Step 2: Cut the Circles- Basic Structure

Trace and cut 2 circles out of the stiff cardboard then, superglue them together and apply pressure so that the final result is a stiff "coin"

Step 3: From Paper to Metal ;-)

Peel carefully the aluminum tape so that it doesn't wrinkle and attach it on the one side of the coin. Trim the edges and roll to the sides the tiny bit of extra tape as shown above. Do the same thing for the other side. Finally, roll the edges of the coin on a piece of paper to make them completely round!

Step 4: Do the Engravings

Print the document listed below and adjust the image to the size of your coin. Then cut the 2 images and secure each one to the sides of your coin. With a pointy tool, gently trace the engravings and remove the photocopy, feel free to do any necessary changes.

Step 5: Mess It Up a Little Bit Aka Do the Patina

I mixed black acrylic paint with a few drops of water, painted the coin with this mixture and then wipe it of with some paper napkins. I did so till I was pleased with the aged-iron-coin effect.

Step 6: So Far Soooooo Good!

If you are interested in making a display case for your coin then proceed to the next step ;-)

Step 7: Making the Case (i)

Make 2 wire loops as shown above and hot glue them on your transparent "lid". Make sure your glue these loops diametrically so that the "lid" can stand on 'em.

Step 8: Making the Case (ii)

Cut 3 circles out of stiff cardboard (one with the diametre of your "lid", one the same size of your coin and a medium sized one), hotglue each circle on the top of the other. Then, cut a semi circular hoop and hotglue it to the bottom of the upper circle so that your coin doesn't fall around when in the case.

On the back of the bottom circle glue 2 stips of cordon (to be able to bind it to the wire loops) and cover the whole thing with black duct tape.

Put your coin in the case and bind the cordons around the wire loops... YOU'RE DONE!
