Introduction: Fire Roasted Tomato Jam Caprese Quesadillas Recipe Contest Entry Procedure

This was to make an updated version of a cookbook quesadilla for the cookbook launch. It needed to be photographed in final version against the cookbook version!

Supplies

Step 1: Read and Review Contest Directions. Go Through Book and Consider Options.

This is the fun stuff. Since I like quesadillas picking one to improve is an interesting challenge, I actually grow basil in my indoor herb garden so I always have a ready supply. I also had just made a version of a tomato jam and wasn’t sure how to use it so a caprese quesadilla sounded yummy!

Step 2: Gather the Rest of the Ingredients.

Since making and cooking these is fairly quick I gather all of my ingredients and have them in place to use!

4 flour tortillas

cream cheese

tomato jam

fresh basil

fresh mozzarella - chopped string cheese

Step 3:

Step 4: Prepare the Basil

I placed the basil in a small food grinder and added a tablespoon of olive oil to make a pesto type consistency.

Step 5: Making the Quesadilla

I then placed the tortillas on a work cutting board. Fold it into quarters to make markings. Unfold. I sliced into one tortilla quarter up to the center.

Step 6: Recording Quantity and Procedure

As I filled each quarter I wrote down the amounts of each ingredient used.

the first got cream cheese, the second jam, the third chopped mozzarella, the last basil pesto. Repeat to make 4!

Step 7: Cooking Quesadilla

Preheat griddle over medium heat. When hot place folded tortilla in pan. Cook for 2 minutes each side and flip.

remove and slice each in half.

Step 8: Following Directions for Contest Show Against Picture in Cookbook!

So lastly, photograph quesadilla in book and upload to web.

Step 9: Add the Recipe to the Information.

This gives the completed recipe for the sandwich. In addition the recipe for the jam is included.

this instructable takes you through making the quesadilla and how to follow the directions for this type of recipe contest!
