Introduction: Fish Tank Filter

I am going to teach you how to make a filter for when your electricity goes out. This is a good thing to have because I am always scared that if the power goes out I would have to change the water constantly.

Step 1: Materials

-Water bottle (empty first)

-A battery-powered bubbler

-Filter sponge

-Ceramic media

-1 or 2 suction cup

-Air Line Tubes

Step 2: Preparing the Bottle

-Poke two large holes in the cap

-Poke 5 medium holes in the bottom of the bottle

-Poke one hole for the air line tub on the neck of the water bottle

-Poke 1 or 2 for your suction cups along the side of the bottle, 3 inches apart from each other

Step 3: The Ceramic Media

-Fill the water bottle with the ceramic media (minimum of half way to the top)

-Put the suction cups on

Step 4: The Attachment

-Attach the bubbler tup to the hole in the neck of the bottle

Step 5: To Use

1)Put the assembled bottle in the water.

2)The bottle can touch the bottom of the fish tank.

3)Make sure that the cap of the bottle is facing the bottom of the tank.

4)Suction cup the bottle on the glass.

5)Turn on bubbler.

Step 6: Type of Bottles

The size of the bottle matters.

For a 20 US gallons and under the bottle has to be 500ml.

From 21-40 gallons it has to be a minimum of 1L.

From 45-75 it is the big 2L or more.

Step 7: What to Do

Put the filter in a safe spot, so when the power goes out your fish tank water will stay clean.
