Five Rainbow Crafts

Spring is finally here! Warm weather, flowers, rain, and rainbows! Everyone loves a good rainbow show, especially when it's spring, so that's why I am here, to show you some color-iffic crafts to make, even if that means no rainbow in the real sky.

Step 1: Rainbow Slime

The trends gone but slime is still fun to make! This is a borax free and safe slime to make at home. Some materials you will need for this craft is:

• Glue 1 cup (in total)
• Shaving cream (optional)
• Liquid laundry detergent or liquid starch but you will need about 3 tablespoon for both or 2 (roughly 18-20 tablespoons in total)
• Food coloring (all the colors of the rainbow)

Steps:

1. Separate the glue into 7 or 6 different bowls. Color the glue according to the different colors you want to use.
2. Add your liquid laundry detergent, make sure to put about 3/4 of a table spoon into each bowl or 1 table spoon. You can use any brand, but TIDE is the best one to use for slime, and Sta-Flo for the starch.
3. Add shaving cream if you want to. After adding every ingredient comes the fun part. Take all the slime and put them side by side and twist them into a spiraling rainbow! Have fun stretching and squishing the slime!

Step 2: Rainbow Sun Catchers With Paper

These sun catching rainbows look marvelous in the sun! Watching the sunlight between those colors look very pretty. Materials you will need are:

• Tissue paper
• Wax paper
• Liquid Glue

Steps:

1. Tear up tissue paper that are the colors of the rainbow.
2. Tear off a piece of waxed paper and smear glue on it. Elmer's glue works too and very well.
3. Next, start to put the pieces of tissue paper on the wax/glued paper.
4. Wait for a minute and glue another piece of waxed paper on top of the rainbow.
5. Wait until it dries up and then cut out the rainbow and put it on a window.
6. Watch the sun seep through the colors and it look like a real sun catcher but with paper! Hang these on windows when the sun is out, they look mesmerizing.

Step 3: Rainbow Perler Bead Key Chain

Perler beads are so fun to melt and make! We are going to make perler bead rainbow key chains or just for fun. Materials we will need are:

• Perler beads
• Iron
• Board (circle)

Steps:

1. Take your perler beads and take out about 20 of each color of the rainbow, depending on the size and location of your board and rainbow. If you want, you can take out white for the clouds.
2. After you have a rainbow shape, which should look like the photo above, you can start melting the beads. There should be instructions for how to melt perler beads on the back of the box but if there isn't here is a link to fuse together perler beads.
3. After you are done, you can take a pin and poke a hole in between where you want your key chain to be. And there you have it, it's only a few minutes to make!

Step 4: Rainbow Braided Headband

This is the last craft for the day and is a pretty little thing to make for any one! Materials needed for this instructable are:

• Fabric (all the colors of the rainbow)
• Two rubber bands (This is a link for the black rubber bands)
• Sewing needle and thread

Steps:

1. Cut out at three of each color and you can use the measurements of 1 centimeter wide and 24 inches long strips, depending on the head size.
2. Pin the three strips, and start braiding! (To braid, take the middle one, while holding the other two, and move it onto the left and put it on top of the first one and the take the other strand and keep overlapping and repeating the process)
3. After you are done with all the colors, take 2 of the braids and loop them and tie them in a knot. Finish tying them all and remember do it in rainbow order, red, orange, yellow, green, follow light blue, indigo, and violet that's a rainbow song for you! Note: DO NOT CUT OF THE EDGES AFTER TYING!!!!
4. When you are done with tying up the braids together, take two black rubber bands and tie them up like in the photo. To do this you take one band and put inside the other one and put the other end of the other band inside the one inside that one and tie it up.
5. Take the edges and fold it under the band like the photo. Start sewing up the edges together to the band. Careful, it's tough and you can get hurt.
6. Ta-da! This headband came out beautifully for me. It is so pretty, and for my opinion I LOVE the rainbow! I hope you enjoyed this instructable!

Step 5: Another Way to Make a Braided Headband

This is our last and final craft of the day, another way to make a braided headband! Materials you will need are:

• Crocheted headbands (This is a link for the crocheted headbands)
• Sewing needle and thread

Steps:

1. Take three of the crocheted headbands and start braiding them. I would suggest doing red in the middle of orange and yellow and purple in the middle of green and blue. After that, pin it together to hold it for now.
2. After that take another color like black and white from the crocheted headbands and take one of the braided parts and pin the braid to the end of the band. Take the other one and put it next to the other band and pin it.
3. Pin both bands ends to the other end and start sewing the pieces together. If you want, you can sew up the middle piece, the white or black band in the middle if you want to. Make sure your sewing is tight enough to hold the braids.
4. Remove the pins and there you have it, another way to make a headband. Bye for now!
