Introduction: Fleece Tie Blankets

How to make fleece tie blankets

Step 1: Gather Materials

To make your fleece blanket(s), you will need:

At least two sheets of fleece cloth. These do not need to have the same pattern or colors.

Average size of an adult blanket will use 2 1/2 yards of each piece of fabric.

A pair of scissors, preferably ones designed to cut fabrics.

Step 2: Align Fabrics

Place your two fabric choices on top of one another, with the same orientation. Cut off extra fabric surrounding the edges, so that the two pieces you are using are the same size. Be careful to keep the edges together, so as to produce cleaner cuts.

Step 3: Cut Out Corners

Cut a 4-inch by 4-inch square out of each corner of the fabrics. Double-check to make sure that the two sheets are aligned before cutting.

Step 4: Cutting the Tie Strips

Now you can begin making cuts into all edges of both fabrics. Each cut should be 1-2 inches apart and 4 inches in depth towards the middle of the blanket, the same length as the corner squares. Make the cuts on all 4 sides of the fabric, making sure to cut both layers of fleece.

Step 5: Tying the Fabrics Together

Next, take the two layers of the strips that you have made from the cuts and double knot them together. Make sure to pull tightly, so your blanket doesn't come undone. The fabric will bunch up a little, so make sure to pull on it every once in a while. Don't pull too hard, but gentle tugs will help make it less bunched. You might hear small ripping noises when you pull, and that's okay.
