Introduction: Forged in Duct Tape Ultimate Battle Sword

This is my first instructable!

I made a video on my new youtube channel that goes into further depth into this project.

This tutorial will show you how to make a simple but awesome cardboard and duct tape sword. It works great for a decoration, battling it out with friends, or killing your medieval enemies!

Step 1: Materials and Tools

This is a very simple build, and most people probably already have everything they need. If you can't cut a piece of wood try using a meter stick.

Materials:

-Cardboard sheet (around 1.5 feet by 4 feet)

-Duct Tape (any kind)

-Electrical Tape (Or just a narrower tape of different color)

-Piece of Wood (3/8" x 5/8" x 32")

Tools:

-Scissors

-Permanent Marker

Step 2: Trace and Cut

Lay the stick out on the cardboard and trace your desired sword design. There's lots of cool designs you can do, just put some thought into it. Once you are satisfied, cut out the cardboard with scissors.

Step 3: Trace the Second Piece and Cut

Lay the cardboard template onto the left over cardboard. Trace it out and cut it out. Now you should have two identical cardboard templates.

Step 4: Insert the Stick and Secure

Place the stick in the center of one of the cardboard templates. Then with duct tape tape it down securely. Try and make sure the stick won't move around in the duct tape.

Step 5: Duct Tape Everything

Place the second template over the stick, so that the stick is now between the two templates. Start by trimming and folding down the cardboard around the handle. Then wrap duct tape around the handle. Next put pieces of tape at different places along the edges of the cardboard. Pinch the pieces of cardboard together to make it have sharper looking edges. Then place long pieces of duct tape along the edges to finish them off. Then cover the rest of the sword in duct tape.

Step 6: Make It Look Cool

Add some electrical tape to the handles, and other places to give it an accent. Play around with the design, because there is a lot of creativity that can be implemented here.

Step 7: And Your Done!

Now you can build a cardboard and duct tape weapon arsenal to battle your friends.
