For this project you will need: fabric, quilt batting, and basic sewing needs.

Step 1:

First cut 8 squares of fabric measuring 6 1/2" X 6 1/2".

Then cut 4 squares of quilt batting measuring 4 1/2" X 4 1/2".

Cotton Homespun fabrics make the best raggedy coasters.

Step 2:

Place the quilt batting in-between 2 fabric squares as shown in the photo. Do this to all the fabric squares.  You should have 4 of these.

Step 3:

Sew from one corner to the opposite corners diagonally as shown in the photo.

Step 4:

Now, making an "X" by sewing from the other side of the coaster diagonally to the other opposite side so that each coaster has an "X" sewn through it as shown in the photo.

Sew a 1" border around the outside square of each coaster.  (This helps prevent the ragging from passing this stitching line)

Step 5:

Cut slits around the whole outside of each of your coasters.  Be careful not to cut in the stitching. The smaller the slits, the more raggedy your coaster will be. Wash your coasters in cold water.  Dry your coasters in the dryer.

Step 6:

Your awesome raggedy coasters are done. For a more harvest effect, add some raffia and an Autumn Greetings tag.  Now your coasters are ready to give as a gift!!!
