Free Carpets

Introduction: Free Carpets

Hi makers of the world. This is a sensory board that can help people with dementia. I made this product for a class and we took it to a dementia center and tested it. It had good results and the patients had a fun time using this board. This board is cheap to make and the net cost can range from $0 to maximum of $15. This is a cheap and easy to make sensory board.

Step 1: Acquire Materials

This is a sensory board for patients with dementia. I decided to make my sensory board using low cost materials. I went to Home Depot and got tons of free carpet samples. Try to get carpet samples that all feel different. If you want to, you can get some wood samples too.

Step 2: Find More Free Stuff

In my board, I took a toy I found on the ground and attached it to my board. The toy made noise and had some cool things so it was really useful. I suggest that you use some children toys for this project.

Step 3: Assemble

Find a thick enough wood to attach all the parts to it. I found a cool board that had weird shapes cut out from it and so I cut my carpets like that too. However, you do not need to do that. Just glue the carpets to the board and screw in the toy. Boom you have a sensory board.
