Introduction: Homemade Nutella Profiteroles

About: Hello! We are Troy, and Lyle: two brothers that are extremely creative and love creating and doing paper craft!

Hello and welcome to my Instructable!

Am I the only one that has gone to a restaurant and ordered some profiteroles for dessert and was like: "These taste incredibly good, I'll find a recipe for them after!" and never ended up doing some? Well this instructable is here to save the day, and with instructions to make your own Nutella, you can have a super-duper tasty cream puff. And if you were wondering you can freeze them for 2 to 3 days.

By following this recipe, you will be able to make 20-25 profiteroles.

Supplies

For the pastry:

  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 125ml water
  • 125ml whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 150g plain flour
  • 4 large eggs

For the filling:

  • 250g double cream
  • 2 tbsp Nutella

For the Nutella (If you don't have):

  • 2 cups of unsalted peanuts or hazelnuts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons hazelnut, walnut, or sunflower oil.
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of milk

Step 1: Blend the Nuts

You can skip this step if you already have Nutella, but for the people that do not have, here is a simple recipe on how to make homemade Nutella.

To start off, grab your blender and process the nuts for about two minutes.

If you are using hazelnuts you will have to preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Then insert a sheet pan with your hazelnuts on it and then roast them for 14 minutes. After, place them in a plastic box with a lid and shake em' up so the skin falls off before blending.

Step 2: Add the Rest of the Ingredients

Now add the rest of the ingredients (cocoa powder, vanilla extract...) and blend all of the mix together for another two minutes. If your Nutella is too thick, keep adding more milk till it has a creamy texture.

Step 3: Time to Make the Dough!

Ok, now that we have finished making the Nutella. We can start making the dough, first of all, we get a saucepan and warm it up to medium heat. And put in our milk, water, butter and salt.

Then you must wait for the butter to completely melt, once it has, you have to put the heat higher until it starts to boil. After it starts to get to its boiling point reduce the heat a bit and add the flour. As you add it you start mixing it until it has a doughy texture. Finally, remove it off the heat, and wait for about ten minutes for it to cool down.

Step 4: Add the Eggs

For this step, you transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Now you start by adding the eggs one by one. After adding each one mix it into the dough until it turns into a batter.

Step 5: Now to Form the Profiteroles

Now that we have got the batter ready pre-heat the oven to 180º C, now grab a tray, and put parchment paper on it. Now get a piping bag and put in the batter and start squirting it onto the parchment paper. Don't worry about not having it tall enough it will puff up by itself.

Now you can put it into the oven and leave it to bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

Step 6: Take Them Out of the Oven

They turned out so well! Now that its out leave it to cool on the tray. Now lets head on to the next step!

Step 7: Fill Them Up With Whipped Cream

To start, cut a hole in the bottom center of the profiterole, you can see that most of the inside is hollow which leaves you with space to fill it up with whipped cream. You will notice that it will puff and turn into a sort of ball.

Step 8: Toppings!

Now is when we get our Nutella and dip the top of our profiteroles into it one by one. And if you really want to bring it to its ultimate shine you can sprinkle some powder sugar on top.

Step 9: Enjoy!

And there you have it! You have made your own homemade profiteroles, these ones have turned out so well. Once again thanks so much for clicking on my Instructables, I hope you like my recipe as much as I did. Please do not forget to vote, and thank you!
