Introduction: Honey-Basil Collins the Ultimate Summer Sipper

Do you like being REFRESHED?! I know I do. I also like cocktails. So when I saw this cocktail on the menu at a local craft-brewery I knew I needed to make it at home. I am gonna give you the basics for this cocktail and with a little know how you can adapt the recipe for larger groups of freshness seekers.
You are going to need:
  • hot water
  • honey
  • basil
  • ice cubes
  • gin
  • lime juice
  • a shaker
  • soda water
  • a lime
  • shot glass
  • glasses to drink from

Step 1: Honey Syrup

Alright the guideline for this is simple. One part honey. One part water. A single drink will require one shot glass (1oz) of the stuff. Therefore if you are making one drink you need half a shot (.5oz) of honey/half a shot (.5oz) of hot water.

Step 2: Begin Mixing

Proportions for single cocktail are as follows:
  • 1-2oz of gin
  • 1oz of honey syrup
  • .5oz lime juice
  • 4-5 large basil leaves (8 or so if you are using a smaller variety of basil such as the globe basil)

STIR in ICE CUBES (crushed ice melts too fast and dilutes the flavor)
DON'T SHAKE (Gin bruises like a georgia peach)

Finish the cocktail with a couple hearty gulps of soda water. Garnish with a lime and a pretty piece if decorative basil stalk if you got it.

Step 3: Feel the Freshness

Hot dang! Do you even taste that? Tastes like stumbling upon two puppies getting married in Antarctica with Morgan Freeman reading their little puppy vows. Anyway let me know what you think. Send me a message or a comment with any improvements you might have.
