Hi Makers
(Save this is instructables in your favourite, is really useful if you need to open PS3 for other problem)

Today I show you how to fix a PS3 Fat . The model I repaired is 60 GB, one of the first on the market , the operation is also valid for other fat models.

The problem is identified as YLOD ( Yellow Led Of Death ) . The console does not start and remains in stand by, when you trying to start it you can see the LED should turn green (console started) turns yellow before it turns off . All this is due to the overheating of the console and the relative thermal paste that must be replaced .

I will show you how to solve the problem , spending is really lowl :

-Pasta thermal

-Gun Heater

-various screwdrivers and torx key

-a little patience :)

I leave here my video if you want to see every step or in alternative follow my instructables

Step 1: Open the Cover

Hard Disk:

1 remove the plastic cover for extract the hard disk

Plastic Cover:

2 remove the screw under the little rubber and slide the cover

Step 2: Plastic Frame

Step 7: Thermal Paste

Now begins the most delicate part of the tutorial.

if you followed all instruction you can see two piece:

1 the mainboard

2 the cooler

grab some alcohol and clean the CPU, GPU and cooler from the old thermal paste

Step 8: "Let's Cook Jesse" (sorry This Is My BB Addicted)

Wrap with aluminum foil over the motherboard and leave naked only the two chip.

After with a Gun Heater heats the Gpu and cpu

ONLY FOR 5 MINUTE AT MEDIUM POWER

don't move the console in this step

after 20 minutes, when the motherboard is cool, flip the to other side and repeat the process

Step 9: Use the New Thermal Paste

Ok you're almost done...

grab some Thermal paste and put a little amount on the cpu gpu and the cooler, after with a card or little spoon distribuite the paste

Step 10: Finish!

finish!

you have to assemble the all component in reverse and try your Playstation 3

PS: This is an operation to do it yourself, I do not assume liability for any bits of damage to your console

Thank you for your attention
