How to Sharpen a Pencil With a Knife

Step 1: Gather Materials

You will need a knife and a pencil.

Step 2: Have Trash Can Near By

Always have a trash can when sharpening.

Step 3: Shave the Top

When shaving the top of a pencil try to find the lead.

Step 4: Carve the Pencil

Carve the pencil at an angle on each side of the hexagon shape.

Step 5: Carve Little Bits of the Lead Carefully

Carve gently, while carving the lead until you get a nice pointy tip...and that's all you have to do.
