Introduction: How to Disassemble a Pool Table

You can disassemble your own slate top pool table for transport. To reassemble just reverse the process.

Supplies

½ inch socket wrench
9/16 inch socket wrench
Needle nose pliers
Straight screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver

Step 1: Remove Staples From Pockets

Use the straight screwdriver and the needle nose pliers to remove the staples securing the pockets to the underside of the pool table.

Step 2: Remove Bumper Bolts From Table

Using a ½ socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the bumpers to the table top. There are eighteen total, three between every pocket.

Step 3: Remove Bumpers From Table

Unfasten the velcro on the pockets and flip the bumpers upside down on top of the table. Be careful moving them, you may want to get help for this step.

Step 4: Remove Pockets From Bumpers

Using the ½ inch socket wrench, remove the bolts holding the pockets to the bumpers.
There are two bolts for each pocket, one on either side, for a total of 12 bolts and washers.

Step 5: Remove Felt From Table

Use the straight screwdriver and the needle nose pliers to remove the staples from the plywood beneath the slate.
When all staples have been removed, take felt off the top.
If you plan on reusing the felt, be careful while removing the staples and store the felt safely.

Step 6: Remove the Slate Bolts

Remove the bolts securing the slate to the plywood table using the Phillips screwdriver.

Step 7: Remove the Slate

Remove the slate from the table, breaking the wax seal in between the pieces of slate. This step will require at least two people.

Step 8: Remove the Legs

Use a 9/16 inch socket wrench to remove the bolt securing the legs to the bottom of the table.

Step 9: Pack All the Pieces Together

Make sure you have all the bolts and pieces needed to reassemble the pool table in one place and pack them securely.
