Introduction: How to Draw an Anime Eye

For this, you will need:

1 sheet of paper

1 pencil with eraser (#2 preferred, for ease of inking later)

1 pen, black, for inking

Colored pencils!

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Step 2: Draw the Top Lash Line

This will be for your upper eyelashes, make sure not to press too hard so you can easily ink over the lines later

Step 3: Draw the Iris Lines

This will be the colored part of your eye. Fun fact, did you know that some people are born with eyes that are different colored (ex. Tyrion Lannister, from Game of Thrones, had one black eye and one green eye!)

Step 4: Draw Your Bottom Lash Line

Step 5: Add the Shine of Your Eye

Once again, be sure not to press too hard, so you can ink it later

Step 6: Draw Your Pupil

Don't shade it yet! That comes in the inking stage

Step 7: Give Your Eye Some Lovely Lashes

Top and bottom, or just the top (in fact, most anime do not use bottom lashes because they're so small in comparison to the upper lashes)

Step 8: Add Your Eye Brow

It can be any shape you want! But for this tutorial, a simple, neutral expression eyebrow has been used.

Step 9: Ink Your Eye!

You can also ink your eyebrow black, but if you want to use a different color (like I did), leave your eyebrow as is

Step 10: Color and Shade Your Eye (and Eyebrow, If Applicable)

Congratulations! You've completed your first anime eye, quick and easy. It's my go to doodle whenever I'm feeling bored, colored or otherwise. Have fun experimenting with different colors and iris patterns, the eyes of anime characters are a beautiful rainbow.

Happy drawing!
