This instructable will teach you how to apply an Oscar-worthy make up bruise. No more wondering whether or not to ACTUALLY punch your or your actor in the face, this way, no one gets hurt. This is a self taught method, so if you were profesionally taught how to do this, I'm sorry I've probably offended your profession with my talent.

Step 1: Step 1

Apply a line of concealer under the eye & on the eye lid. Most drugstore concealers come with a brush or applicator, but I dont like using them, alot of times they are unable to wash so it gets pretty gross to use to rub in your face. Instead, use a concealer brush to pretty much paint in the concealer to yourunder eye & lid.

Step 2: Step 2

Now that you have a good skin to work on, lets get on to the real punch. Use a small eyeshadow brush to apply a subtle yellow in the same areas you put the concealer, under the eye & all over the lid.

{used Clinique Soft Eye brush} (SIDE NOTE: the Clinique brush I used here & will use in a few other steps is quite old & probably unavailable anymore. Any small, soft eyeshadow brush will work in replacment of this!)

Step 3: Step 3

----READ ENTIRE STEP BEFORE TRYING IT OUT----
Ok. This part can get tricky. This step is to get the effect of (don't barf) alllll the little blood vessels that pop when you get a bruise, but is more prominent around the eye. To get this effect, your going to use a dark brown/red lipstick. Before applying it to the face, find the edge of your eye socket bone. No really, feel around your eye, you'll find an edge all the way around your eye. This is key to know where exactly it is. So, take the lipstick & use the tip to dot random dots all the way along the bone. check out the picture to see what i mean before trying!

Step 4: Step 4

Use the same small eyeshadow brush to dot a soft purple eyeshadow lightly along the same area you did the lipstick & on the crease of the eye. This gives color to the lighter side of the bruise.

Step 5: Step 5

This is where it starts to get good looking. Now for the darker part. Use a dusty dark purple eyeshadow to line right under the eye, kind of like a dark circle. The color should show up really subtly, so to add depth, apply a greenish brown matte shadow under the outer corner of the eye.

Step 6: Step 6

Used the dark purple agian, this time with the small eyeshadow brush. Apply the makeup along the eye socket bone, again dotting it in the same area you did before.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

This last step is all up to you whether or not you want to apply this make up, but i like to use my finger to apply a dab of foam foundation on the lashes & a dusting of the yellow eyeshadow. This makes the eye look smaller & slightly swollen.
