Introduction: How to Get Rid of Ants
Now there are many ways to get rid of ants but if you don't want to spend money on it you can easily create your own "ant killer" just using some ingredients you have at home
Step 1: Step 1: Ingredients
Take
2 teaspoons of dishwashing soap
2 teaspoons of cooking oil (any kind of oil will do the job)
400 ml of water
1 spray Bottle
Step 2: Step 2: Mix Everything Together
Now take a spray bottle and fill all 3 ingredients in it. Shake it well and you're ready to go.
It's just easy as that. Now take the bottle and spray along the ant trails or directly. Remember to re-apply it after some days as it's going to evaporate fast.

How does this get rid of ants? Does it deter them? I've had ants before and it's no fun.

This is a contact killer. In other words you must spray the ant to kill it. Once it evaporates it is useless. Also, this does nothing to kill a mound because it will not kill the queen or eggs. Good contact spray for not going to get rid of ant problem. It destroys the waxy exoskeleton and thus kills the ants that come into contact with the spray liquid.

Try it out, it's not really going to cost you something.
Soap destroys their exoskeleton, drying them out and killing them in this way.
The oil is cause ants dont really like to pass over it, so they're going to to avoid it.
It will also mask their scent.
There are many more effective methods, you could have a look on my site if you want to know more about that.

cinnamon will turn ants away, but I found a mixture of boric acid aka roach kill and whatever juice or sugar drink you have laying around soaked into a cotton ball is the best ant bait. They will swarm it and take the poison back to their colony usually killing it.

Soap, water, oil? Sounds like a spa treatment for ants, what is the effect upon them?
