Introduction: How to Turn Your Finger Into a Meat Sausage, Complete With Plastic Casing!

Having just macerated my finger into pulp with my Dremel, I swore loudly a couple of times, grabbed a paper towel to staunch the bleeding, then examined the damage. This is the second time I have done this in a week, and in the same spot, nonetheless, only this time a bit worse.

Well, I'm fresh out of bandages since like 12 years, ago, and have been using duct tape and paper towels with great success. Well, darn it, I'm out of duct tape, too. So this is what I did, and as you can see in the picture, my finger is happy.

Step 1: Step:1 Get a Booboo

Check out the damage, here. This is what a dremel with a router bit will do to your finger in a split second.

Step 2: Now Get Your First Aid Supplies

What you'll need is:
1. a paper towel
2. a ziploc bag
3. an impulse sealer. What?! You don't have an impulse sealer? Well, watch for my upcoming Instructable on how to make your own impulse sealer with an old laptop power supply.

Step 3: Now Prepare the Bandage

First, you'll need to cut a strip of paper towel. This will absorb the bleeding and cushion your sensitive finger from further torment.

Then you will use your impulse sealer to make a plastic sleeve big enough to fit your wounded fingertip. Yes, there's more to this bandage than a pretty smile.

Step 4: Step 4?? How Many Steps Do You Need to Make a Bandage?

Next I sealed off the corners of the "finger-condom" for a snug fit. The blue marker shows you how this is done. Click on pic 2 to see the result.

Step 5: Putting It Together

Wrap the strip of paper towel around your fingertip, then stuff it into the plastic sleeve. If it's loose, wrap some more paper towel until your finger feels nice and numb. Congratulations! You have just turned your finger into a Slim Jim.

You know, since I built my impulse sealer, one of my friends has joked that one day she'll come over, and my entire aparment will be sealed in plastic. I bet she didn't see this coming!

Step 6: Enjoy!

... and now I can rest easy around Simba, again, without fear of an inadvertent claw/salt in the wound.

Step 7: Fini.

The End.
