Introduction: Jumbo Tiger Prawns - on the Grill

About: I love making cooking videos in particular BBQ grilling videos, but a lot of what I do can be done in the kitchen too. Check out my page and subscribe if you like it!

Here's a great little video from a recent trip to Portugal (the Algarve) cooking some huge prawns over coals on the grill.

Known for their amazing seafood I decided to pop to the local market and pick up some seafood. I didn't know I'd have the choice of about 8 different types of prawn. So prawns it was to be.

Jumbo Tiger Prawns were the choice & with such a great product I wanted to keep things simple.

The recipe involves grilling the prawns over the charcoal and then drizzling in the salt infused lemon (a great technique you'll repeat time and time again for fish/seafood).

Step 1: VIDEO RECIPE

Watch the recipe in it's entirety, from shopping for ingredients right through to cooking and eating!

Step 2: You Will Need:

  • A Grill (preferably charcoal but gas works well)
  • A selection of prawns (we've used large x4 tiger prawns - 1 per person)
  • Fresh lemons
  • Sea salt

Step 3: Prep & Cooking:

Start your grill and get it to a medium hot heart.
Slice your lemons in half and rub on some flaky sea salt (a generous pinch for each lemon half) on to the flesh
Place the lemons flesh side down on the hot grill and LEAVE for several minutes.
On the other side of the grill place the prawns in a line
Wait a few minutes each side of the entire shell of the prawn to turn a orangey red colours (some prawns don't change colour but Tiger prawns will).

Step 4: Serving

Once cooled, slice the lemons again into easily to squeeze quarters
Place the Prawns on a serving plate with the lemons
Invite your guests to peel the prawns and squeeze on the salt-infused lemons.
Eat and enjoy!
