Introduction: Katharine Hepburn's Famous Chocolate Brownies
Gooey fudge-like brownies from scratch using Academy Award winning actress Katharine Hepburn's recipe. I will make the BEST EVER chocolate glaze for them too. They are simple to make and amazing! Worthy of an Oscar.
Things needed for brownies:
8 Tbls. butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 oz semi sweet baking chocolate
Glaze:
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
4 tbls. butter
1/2 cup unsweetned cocoa powder
2 tbls. sour cream
1/2 tsp instant coffee
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
Step 1: Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a saucepan add 2 oz semi sweet baking chocolate and 8 tbls butter. Cook on medium low heat stirring until the chocolate and butter have melted and reaches a smooth consistency.
Step 2: Add Sugar
Transfer mixture to a bowl, Whisk in 1 cup sugar. It will be a bit grainy at this stage.
Step 3: Vanilla and Egg
Whisk in 1/2 tsp of vanilla and 2 whole eggs.
Step 4: Add Flour
Whisk in 1/4 cup of flour. You're thinking only a 1/4 cup? Yep, this is what makes them gooey and fudge like!
Step 5: Bake
Pour batter into an 8X8 buttered baking dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 mins.
Step 6: Prepare Glaze
In a measuring cup add 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream. Stir in 2 tbls sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp instant coffee
Step 7: Melt Butter
In a saucepan melt 4 tbls of butter
Step 8: Add Dry Ingredients
Whisk in 3/4 cup sugar, pinch of salt and 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. It will be thick and grainy!
Step 9: Add Wet Ingredients
Slowly whisk in the whipping cream mixture. Take it to the stove and cook on low heat for 3-4 minutes. It will not thicken up a lot.
Step 10: Pour on the Glaze
Pour the glaze over the brownies. This recipe makes a bit more glaze than needed. Eat the rest with a spoon. It is amazing! Put them in the refrigerator to firm up the glaze. Then ENJOY!

do all brownie recipes have more sugar than flour? I don't scratch bake brownies very often.

I think they mostly do. But 1/4 cup of flour is a pretty tiny amount. So it helps make the brownies more gooey and less cake like.
