Introduction: LEGO Mech

About: Freelance mechanical engineer from the Bay Area.

My brother is making an amazing stop-action LEGO film called P.A.I.R.D. It is a feature length movie that he has been releasing on youtube in sections. He's currently editing part 7 of 10, and we are building all of the sets and props for parts 8-10. One of our recent creations was an Abrams tank.

So, here is another one of our original designs, a giant LEGO mech! We will end up building two or three of these for his movie. If there is enough feedback, I'd be happy to make a step-by-step guide on how to make one of these, but I thought I would just upload some photos of the final product first. Enjoy!

My son and I tried to build this without instructions. Just using your pictures and a little imagination, we managed everything exactly except the torso. I give up!

Also, you can't really appreciate all of the subtle characteristics in your design unless you build it. Awesome work!

Cool! Do you have any photos you can post? Sorry about the lack of instructions, my brother is still filming with it and he won't let me take it apart to take step-by-step photos, haha.

I realized I may have over-exaggerated, I still have the torso + left arm to finish. I will certainly post some pictures later!

That is just SICK, man! Please make instructions sometime in the future!

P.A.I.R.D is one of the best Lego stop-motion films I have seen. I was excited to see part 8 finally come out, and now I have a guess as to what this thing might be! Keep up the good work; the story is simply phenomenal!

I would love detailed instructions for this! I adore LEGO mechs of all types, everyone comes up with such amazing techniques for little details here and there. I'd love to be able to study yours in serious depth.
