Introduction: Laser Cut Hand Washing Sign

About: Hi. My name is Adelle and I work for Trotec Laser, Inc. In my spare time I enjoy sharing projects for people to use on their lasers.

Handwashing remains the No. 1 tip for preventing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and other viral illnesses such as cold and flu. Here you will find templates for the quick creation of Covid-19 signs from TroLase, TroLase Foil and TroGlass.

Supplies

  • CO2 laser cutter (We used a Trotec Speedy 360 80W with a 2" lens)
  • 1/4 sheet TroLase black/yellow 1.6 mm (available at link below)
  • 1/4 sheet TroLase blue/white 1.6 mm (available at link below)
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass reverse glossy/white (available at link below)
  • 1/4 sheet TroLase blue/white 1.6 mm (available at link below)
  • Acrylic paint in black

Step 1: Import/Create Print & Laser Template

Create your own design or use our template. Now send the job to the laser with the settings below.

Important: If you use TroGlass Reverse, the file must be mirrored.

Tip: When working with TroLase or TroLase Foil, the following applies: If you use the entire work surface, use a vacuum table or an adhesive mat so that the material lies flat over the entire surface. Otherwise, cover the work surface with paper to create an optimal vacuum.

Step 2: Laser Processing

Now make the parameter settings. Our suggested parameters may vary depending on the laser machine used and the available laser power. Remove the protective foil from the TroLase Foil or TroLase surface and then place the material in your laser. If you use TroGlass Reverse it is recommended to remove the foil after the laser process.

*Use these parameters as a guide but make sure you adjust your settings if you have a different laser system or a different wattage.

Step 3: Assembly

To attach the parts to each other, first remove the protective film on the back of the blue TroLase shield. Now stick the TroLase label onto the yellow TroLase or the white TroGlass Reverse label according to the markings.The signs are now ready for use!

You can of course produce these signs in all possible colors and material combinations.
