The Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching and millions of people all over the world bother their heads about one and the same question: how to surprise that special someone? If you have the same problem and cannot decide on the best souvenir for your loved one, there is something I would like to offer you. The layer soap we are going to make in this tutorial will surely appeal to your second half. Moreover, this souvenir has universal nature, so it will be a great surprise both for a man and a woman. So, let’s get started!

Step 1: Supplies

To make soap, you will need the following supplies:

  • Transparent soap base – 100 g
  • Three heart-shaped tins (like those you use for baking cookies)
  • Red glitter
  • Red pigment
  • Almond oil – ½ teaspoon
  • Geranium essential oil – 1 drop
  • Chamomile essential oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Titanium dioxide pigment
  • Neroli essential oil 1-2 drops
  • Soap frame
  • Spirit
  • A knife

Step 2: Cut the Soap Base

Cut the soap base you have prepared into small pieces. Take 40 grams of it, put it into a plastic cup and melt it. While the mass is melting, take your time to prepare the surface, where you will make the first layer of your soap. I have made use of the deep silicone form, but it is also possible to take the food wrap and spread it on the table or a board.

Step 3: Prepare the Soap Base

As soon as the soap base melts, add the dye to it and mix it. As far as I have used the red pigment, I additionally had to mix it with the ½ tablespoon of almond oil. Then you should add glitter and geranium essential oil. Mix the base once again.

Step 4: Spill the First Layer of Soap

Spill half of the base into the silicone form, add a few drops of spirit and wait until it jellifies. Keep in mind that the first layer should be warm when you take it out of the form.

Step 5:

Take the heart-shaped tins and cut out three hearts of different sizes. You should also cut the rest of the layer small pieces and put them into a plastic cup with red base to melt it once again later.

Step 6: Bend and Attach the Hearts

Take the knife and bend each heart in the middle with its help. The smallest heart should be bent most, while the biggest one should be bent less than other hearts. Having done that, melt the rest of the base and attach the hearts to each other using the drops as it is shown on the photo.

Step 7: Prepare the Soap Frame and the Base

Take the soap frame (I used the square-shaped plastic form). Add 1-2 drops of neroli essential oil and titanium dioxide pigment into the melted base until it becomes white. You can also add a drop of chamomile essential oil to give your soap herbal scent. Mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Step 8: Make the Next Layers of Soap

Spill half of the white soap base into the form and add a few drops of spirit. Wait until it jellifies. Then melt the red base and spill it on the white soap layer. Do not forget to add a few drops of spirit again. Repeat the same actions with the rest of the red base. Add spirit. As soon as all the layers are jellified, take the soap out of the form.

Step 9: Attach the Hearts to the Soap

Using a few drops of water, attach the hearts to the soap. This is quite easy to do. Now, you are welcome to give the soap any shape you wish. You can cut the angles, add dry glitter to the surface of the hearts or any other décor elements you wish. That’s it! Your soap looks lovely and is ready to be given to your Valentine! Happy Valentine’s Day!
