Make Your Own Gear Ties Out of Paracord

Introduction: Make Your Own Gear Ties Out of Paracord

In this Instructable I will be showing you how to make your own Gear Tie, for far less!
These can be used to tie up your wires stuff or Paracord stash.

You will need...
- Paracord
- Wire
- Hot Glue

Step 1: Measure, Cut, and Gut

Measure out a piece of stiff wire and a length of paracord that are the same length.
Now Gut the paracord, or pull out the middle of it.
 Sorry my Camera Sucks.

Step 2: Slip and Seal

Pull the hollow Paracord sheath over the wire and apply a generous amount of hot glue at the ends.
Now go and tie something down.

brilliant! one question though, what gauge wire do you use?

A minor improvements to a brilliant idea.

Before inserting the wire into the sheath give the ends a pass with a file or emery board to smooth them and reduce the chances of eroding the ends.

Idea two. Give the paracord a light stretch before sealing the second end. Because of the way it's woven it narrows under tension (when the core is removed). This would give a tighter fit, and make them grip a bit better.

Still a brilliant and simple idea.

I've got a henk..hank...a bunch of dayglo orange that would be great for this. I've used the black Gear ties and colour is a great idea. Do I make one single Gear Tie 40 feet long, 40 one foot ones, or 26.66666... 8 inch ones?

Love this idea! Finally a use for a bunch of tiny scraps of paracord that are just laying around. I used a regular paperclip and sealed the ends with a lighter. Good luck in the contest :)

I love this idea and I'm totally stealing it (I have like 7,000 ft. of paracord all in a mess in my bedroom...I wish I was kidding).

I do have one suggestion. Instead of hot gluing the ends, why not melt them with a lighter? Seal them up with a good ol Bic. Probably much cleaner and efficient.

    Awesome ible!
