Introduction: Makedo Pinball Machine
Who will get the highest score? Start your own cardboard arcade with this DIY Pinball Machine. We’ve used a cardboard box and some reclaimed packaging items, and connected them together with Makedo parts available at mymakedo.com.
Step 1: Saw
To make this Pinball Machine, first lay a large box on its side and use the Makedo Safe-saw to cut three edges of the top surface, leaving one short length attached.
Step 2: Score
To create an angle to the face of the Pinball Machine, use the point end of the Makedo Safe-saw and score a line near the top of the box.
Step 3: Fold
Fold down along the scored line and position the top surface to the desired angle.
Step 4: Build
To fix the folded angle in place, use the Makedo Safe-saw and punch a hole in the top fold. Place an extra piece of cardboard behind as the display for the Pinball Machine.
Connect the display to the base using Makedo Re-pins and Re-clips. Remember to also secure the other end of the flap to keep the surface at the correct angle.
Step 5: Saw
To complete the look of the base, cut off the excess cardboard on the top edge of the box with the Makedo Safe-saw.
Step 6: Accessorize
Your base is complete. Now for the fun part! Source materials such as yogurt tubs, paper containers and lids to accessorise and create obstacles for your Pinball Machine. Connect them to the angled surface using Makedo Re-pins and Re-clips.
Personalize your arcade by decorating the display with your name, add a coin slot and create your own scoring and ticketing system.
Step 7: Complete
Create hand flippers by sawing a paper tube in half and inserting through the sides of the box. Cut a hole at the base of the slope where your pinball will drop. We’ve placed a plastic container here to catch our pinball. All that is left is to put it to the test! See who can get the most points before the ball falls in to the hole.
