Introduction: Making Soap

Soap is a substance used for washing and cleansing purposes, usually made by treating a fat with an alkali and mainly made up of the sodium or acid salts contained in the fat. Today we will be making our own homemade soap. This is designed to be a fun activity that shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes and can be completed by almost anyone. Simply follow the instructions below and you should have your own homemade soap ready to use for your own convenience.

Supplies

- Measuring Cup

- Knife

- Cutting Board

- Muffin Pan

- 1 pound of Soap Base Bar

- Teaspoon

- Essential Oils

- Coffee grounds

- Spoon

Step 1: Cut Soap Into Cubes

Cut soap base with knife into cubes until you roughly have 2 cups filled in measuring cup.

Step 2: Melt in Microwave

Put measuring cup in microwave for 60 seconds (check to make sure you’re using a microwave-safe measuring cup) on high and then stir with spoon (If not completely melted you may have to put it back in the microwave for another 15-30 seconds).

Step 3: Add 1 Teaspoon of Coffee Grounds

After removing the soap from the microwave and stirring, add the coffee grounds to the measuring cup and stir well with spoon.

Step 4: Add 3-4 Drops of Essential Oil Into Soap Mixture

Add drops and stir well with a spoon.

Step 5: Pour the Soap Mixture Into Muffin Pan

Pour the soap mixture into the pan evenly depending on size of muffin pan molds. Typically makes 3-4 bars of soap.

Step 6: Allow to Harden at Room Temperature

This step will take approximately 5-10 minutes.

Step 7: Freeze Soap Bars for 10 Minutes

Set pan into freezer and leave it in for 10 minutes.

Step 8: Remove Soap From Freezer

Flip the pan upside down and gently push out soap of muffin pan. Enjoy!
