Introduction: Making a Theater for Popsicle Stick Puppets

About: I'm a follower of Jesus, homeschooling Momma of 4 little blessings, and an ICU nurse who enjoys Bible journaling, making sweet treats, and enjoying God's creation!

This is a quick and easy project for kids to do with a little adult help on a rainy day - or any day!

Materials list:

Cardboard Box(es)

Decorating supplies (any you like, but pictured here are wrapping paper, adhesive stars, bangle ribbon)

Glue

Tape

Scissors

Crayons/Markers

Stencils (optional)

Popsicle Sticks

Step 1: Prepare Your Cardboard Boxes

I used 2 boxes that I glued together to make them the size I was hoping for. Cut the front of the "theater" so that it is mostly open (I left a small overhang at the top).

Step 2: Decorate Your "theater"

This is the fun part! You can make the theater as simple or fancy as you would like.

For this one, we covered the outside in wrapping paper, added some adhesive stars, and embellished it with bangle ribbon on the front edge.

We used stencils to make some castle drawings for the inside backdrop.

Step 3: Make Your Puppets and Play, Play, Play!

For our puppets. we printed some of our favorite characters, laminated them, and glued them to popsicle sticks.

If you don't have a laminator, printing the characters on cardstock paper would probably work just as well.

Place the box on a table with the back edge pulled off the table enough to reach in with the stick puppets.

Play!
