Introduction: Mini Knex Duct Tape Boat

About: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4 13

This boat is a knex frame wrapped in duct tape so it floats. Although it doesn't do anything, it is fun to watch and it floats really good.

Step 1: Parts Count

Connectors:

Red - 10

Purple 3D - 38

Yellow - 14

Blue 3D - 18

White - 6

Rods:

Green - 30

White - 64

Blue - 33

Other:

1 Roll Of Duct Tape

Step 2: Building the Boat Part 1

Pic 1: Make the bottom of the boat like this.

Pic 2: Add these to the bottom.

Pic 3: Snap these on all around the boat.

Pic 4: Add green rods all around the boat.

Pic 5: Build the top like this.

Step 3: Building the Boat Part 2

Pic 1: Add this to the back of the boat.

Pic 2: Make the front of the boat.

Pics 3 and 4: Add these so it is easier to put on the duct tape.

Step 4: Add the Duct Tape

If you add enough duct tape, it will float like a knex boat covered with duct tape*.

You don't have to put duct tape in the inside, but if you do, it will be more water resistant and it will look better.

*If you are wondering how well a knex boat covered with duct tape floats, than make this.

Step 5: Done!

Set your boat in water to see how well it floats. If you added enough duct tape, it should float for about an hour.

Step 6: The Floating Game

Even if you didn't build this boat, you can still play this floating game. It is fun, but a person can only play one time.

How to play:

Find a few people who want to play this game.

Find a place with water that you can play this game.

Get lots of different knex wheels and tires. Separate the wheels from the tires. Don't get two of the same kind of tire/wheel.

Now ask the players if they think the wheel/tire will float. When someone guesses right they get a point. When you dropped all the wheels and tires into the water, the person with the most points wins.
