Introduction: Mini Quilled Flower Pot
This adorable creation is super cute and a great gift for someone! Sticking the flowers into the pot is a bit of a hassle, but I have some advice that can help you succeed!
Step 1: Materials
For this project, you will need:
Green Wire (preferably 33-36 gauge)
4 strips of dark orange paper
1 strip of light pink
1 strip of dark pink
1 1/2 strips of green
Step 2: Making the Pot
Take two of the orange strips and glue them together. Using the quilling tool, coil the long strip into a tight coil, and glue down the end. Using the back end of the quilling tool, gently press into the center of the coil to form the pot shape. You can also use your finger to make the pot round and 3D. Spread glue all over the inside of the pot to keep it from deforming. You have now made the pot shape. To make the plate, glue the other two orange strips together and make the tight coil, gluing down the end, this time, pressing less just to make end edge of the circle a little bit higher than the center. Again, apply glue to the inside of the plate to keep it from deforming. While doing this, place the pot part in the center of the plate, and let dry. You have now made the pot!
Step 3: Making the Flowers
To make the flowers, measure 3 inches on one of your pink strips, be it light or dark. Make small cuts into the paper to make it look fringy. Be careful to not cut off a section of the quilling paper in the process (believe me, I did this quite a bit). Once you have done that, use the quilling tool, inserting the edge that wasn't cut in the tool, to coil up the piece of fringed paper. Remove the flower from the tool, and glue down the end. Place a dot of glue on the bottom of the flower. Cut a small piece of green wire, about 1-1.5 inches, and insert it into the glued bottom. Let dry, and repeat with the other flowers. (You can make as many flowers as you like, but I only made 7.
Step 4: Inserting the Flowers & Making the Leaves
Coil your green strip to roughly the size of the inside of the pot. Glue the green coil around itself, and then place it gently in the pot. Pour some glue into the pot, and let it sit for 1-3 minutes. If you insert the flowers immediately, the flowers will "droop". Once the glue has sat for a bit, carefully insert the flowers. They will still tend to droop, but less so. I placed mine inside a duct tape roll, and let it stay until dry.
For the leaves, cut 2-3 2-3 inch strips, and coil them at the ends. Place them carefully in the pot.
Step 5: The Finished Product
As you can see, it's very small, and that's what makes it adorable! Enjoy!
