This instructable will show you how to make a model hot air balloon. WARNING: this might not look very good.

Step 1: Materials

For this project, you will need:

Cardboard
Felt
a battery
a switch
a lightbulb and lightbulb holder
wire
pipe cleaners
a balloon
duct tape
hot glue
scissors
needle and thread

Step 2: Make the Basket

To make the basket at the bottom of the hot air balloon, you will need your scissors, cardboard, felt, and hot glue. First, you cut out the base piece of felt. You can make the base any size you want. Next, you cut out 2 pieces with one side length that is the same as the base and 2 pieces that have one side length that is the same as the other side of the base. These four pieces should have the same height. You then sow them together. Once you have the box, you hot glue pieces of cardboard about the same size as the felt on the inside. You will end up with something like this.

Step 3: Make the Circuit

Take your battery, lightbulb and holder, switch, wire, and duct tape and prepare to put them together. Connect one end of the battery to the lightbulb holder and the other to the switch. Connect the other side of the switch with the other side of the lightbulb holder. Reinforce with duct tape. Make sure the lengths of the wire are small enough to fit in the holder.

Step 4: Put Things Together

Take the pipe cleaners and cut them into two parts such that they form an "x" when placed on top of the box. The ends of the pipe cleaner can fit in the holes of the box. Take some other pipe cleaners and make an "m" out of them. Those also go in the holes. After you're done, it should look like the picture above, minus the balloon. With that, you can insert the circuit inside. The lightbulb holder will go on the middle of the "x", and you can hot glue the switch on the side. Once you inflate the balloon and put it on, you are done!
