Introduction: Nail Polish Art

Why not try something new and fun? I've always had a hard time spending a lot of money on dishes and cups, because having kids in the house means eventually they will get broken. So, I tend to stick to the cheap dishes and some of the dishes I replace most often are drinking cups. YES, yes I know that there are plastic cups for children, but I've found so many different reasons I do not like the plastic ones and would rather just stick to glass. The problem with cheap glass cups is I can never find any unique, colorful, or design ones, so I started to look into ideas to create my own. This project is so fun and so easy, and I didn't even have to buy any new materials.

Step 1: Items That You Will Use:

  • Nail polish
  • Container(use one you can dispose of after use)
  • Glassware (must have flat bottom)
  • Room temp water
  • Toothpicks or other skinny stick

Step 2: Fill Container With Water

make sure the container is room temp. If its too hot or too cold the nail polish will harden too quickly.

Step 3: Pour Nail Polish Into Water

In this step, get as close to the water as you can and gently and slowly pour nail polish onto water. Nail polish should float in this step. Alternate colors as you'd prefer.

Step 4: Use the Toothpick to Create Designs

You can be creative in this step and create whatever design, shapes you enjoy.

Step 5: Dip the Cup

Now you can take the cup and place the bottom flat directly into the water slowly and as you dip it, the cup should attach the nail polish design, slowly pull cup out and place on surface to dry.
