Introduction: "Neon" Sign Made of EL Wire

About: I like electronics, lights, programming...

As I'm into different kinds of lights, I decided to manufacture the logo for my lovely friends who are making aromatic candles:)

Supplies

Step 1: Creating a Wire Frame

I cut a piece of wire and split it in half, then started weaving the base. In some places, I soldered two wires to strengthen the frame. And I got this semi-perfect construction 😜

Step 2: Cutting EL Wire, Binding to the Frame

I used thread for beads to bind EL wire, which is enough strong and thin. You can hot the wire a little to bend it easier. Finally, I connected all segments to test them. Before powering the EL wire, check if you didn't make a short circuit on the ends!!!

Step 3: Making the Base

I chose oak board for the base.

Outer actual sizes turned out to be slightly larger.

Also, I painted it once with water-based varnish.

Step 4: Time to Fit on Accessories

Old-style button, four stands, metal sheet, several screws... A couple of magick and I built it!

Step 5: Electronics

After connecting the button to the main PCB, I faced false triggering (long wires, maybe noise). To avoid it, I soldered the filtering capacitor of 0.1uF.

To finish up, filled wires with hot glue:)

Step 6: Enjoy It!
