Introduction: New Orleans Porcelain Mask Face Paint

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

This classic face paint was inspired by a porcelain mask from New Orleans. The porcelain mask was something that I actually found in my toy drawer and had this one for over 15 years. At that point, I was inspired to recreate it as a face paint design! Here's how I did it!

Step 1: Start With White

First, I began with a white base. I used Mehron Paradise Makeup in White.

Step 2: Grey Eyes

Then, I used Mehron Paradise Makeup in Storm Cloud to paint over and under the eyes.

Step 3: Black Features

Next comes black, which I used to make the exaggerated triangles over and under the eyes.

Step 4: Red Lips

After outlining the grey parts in black, I jumped into Mehron Paradise Makeup in Beach Berry to paint the oversized lips.

Step 5: Final Touches

For the final touches, I used Urban Decay Electric Shadow in Revolt to add some definition to the grey parts. Then, I outlined the triangles with more of the Storm Cloud, and finished things off with black detailing between each triangle.

Step 6: Done!

Now, that's it complete, check out my gallery of my New Orleans Mask face paint!
