Step 1: Gather Ingredients
For your overnight oats, you will need...
~FOR BASE~
-1 container
-1 spoon
- 1/2 cup of Quick-Cooking oats
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 Tbls honey
(make sure you have 1 part liquid to 1 part oats if you want to alter the recipe)
~FOR TOPPING~
- 1/2 a banana
- cinnamon
- blueberries
(or any topping of choice)
Step 2: Add Base Ingredients & Stir
This step is pretty self-explanatory. Just add all of your base ingredients to the jar and mix them together! Don't over think this, there is no such thing as over or under mixing when it comes to overnight oats.
Step 3: Add Toppings!
Now choose any of your favorite topping combinations, and add it on top. To make the topping I chose, simply add 1/2 a sliced banana, 1/4 cup blueberries, and some cinnamon to the overnight oats mixture.
Some of my favorite topping ideas include...
- Chocolate chips
- 1 Tbls peanut butter
- Just cinnamon
- Just blueberries
- Just banana
- 2 Tsp cocoa powder (if you like chocolate! ;)
Step 4: Let It Sit Overnight & Enjoy!
Here is where it get's its name; Overnight Oats. Now all you have to do is sit back, go to sleep, and poof! It's waiting for you in the morning. Put your oats in the fridge for anywhere from 1 hour to 3 days and eat it when you want. You can take it to work, or enjoy it in the comforts of your home.

One nice thing about this is you can use steelcut oats instead of instant, when they normally take 40ish minutes to cook. The texture is wonderful!

Can`t see the point in overnight oats when you can make them in 3 minutes using a microwave cooker . Or am I just being lazy doing it like this ?

That is a good point, but since I like to eat my oatmeal cold I use this as a way to still have my oats soft and puffed.

this is great. try it with Kefir(fermented yogurt),sounds gross but high in probiotics and makes the oatmeal smoother, thicker and richer.

Do you ever consider canning this? I think it would be fairly easy considering your base ingredients.
